Frequently Asked Questions

How to properly burn your Light + Glow candle:

The first burn is important! We recommend burning your candle until a full melt pool has been achieved on its first burn. A full melt pool maximizes an even burn for the full life of your candle, and maximizes the throw of your fragrance. Achieving a full melt pool on your first burn also prevents the wax from tunneling during future burns.

How long does it take to achieve a full melt pool? That depends on the diameter of your vessel but we anticipate roughly 2-3 hours with some variability on each side of that. Please see below for more on burn times + how to achieve the perfect melt pool.

* Never burn your candle for longer than 4 hours.

Trim your wick:

After your wick has cooled, and always before your next burn, be sure to trim your wick to 1/4" before lighting every time. This keeps the flame at its ideal height and reduces sooting. NOTE: if at any point the flame seems too high or burning too strong, simply blow the candle out, trim the wick (when it’s cooled) and start again!

Keep an eye out.

Place your candle within eyesight + away from any flammable items, small children, or a drafty spot in your home. When not in use, store your candles upright in a cool + dry environment and away from direct sunlight.

Why Coco Apricot Creme?

Coco Apricot Creme wax is a creamy + luxurious vegan wax blend made of natural apricot and coconut. It is gluten free, toxin free, paraben free, phthalate free, and comes from renewable sources.

What is, and why do you use, a crackling wooden wick?

We love the ambience of a warm fireside, and that’s the same feeling we get when burning our crackling wooden wicks. Our wicks are 100% natural and are not processed in any way. They are non-toxic and clean burning. Our favorite thing about them? They don't mushroom like cotton wicks do, woohoo!

Our wooden wicks are sourced from FSC-certified Mills. FSC stands for "Forest Stewardship Council" and they are an independent, non-profit organization that protects forests for future generations. Because FSC is the gold standard in forest certification, it is the only system supported by groups such as WWF, Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Natural Resources Defense Council and National Wildlife Federation.

About the Maker:

As a Certified Holistic Health Coach + Aromatherapist in real life, it was of utmost importance to me to create a beautiful and luxurious candle line that was 100% natural, nontoxic and synthetic free. My family has been chemical-free for almost a decade and as a health coach + essential oil educator for nearly the same amount to time, I have seen the long term body/mind dis-ease that comes from the toxic chemicals found in our homes.

Non toxic candles are a must.

As such, all our candles are small batch and lovingly hand poured and include no harmful chemicals, parabens or phthalates. They are vegan, eco friendly and sustainable. They are safe + clean candles for your home, your family, and the planet.

What is the approximate burn time for my candle?

  • Our 12 ounce Luxe Iridescent vessels will burn for 80+ hours and burn well in large, open spaces.
  • Our 5 ounce Copper Travel tins burn 25-35 hours and are perfect for smaller rooms such as bathrooms, and ideal during travel or for gifting.

*Burn times are estimated based off of burn cycles with a maximum of 4 hours duration. Burn times can fluctuate from a variety of circumstances including open air drafts, lengths of burn cycles, wick trimming, and so on. Burn times are offered here to estimate the lifespan of a candle and are not guaranteed. Never burn your She Glows candle longer than 4 hours at a time.

How do I get the remaining wax out so I can reuse my vessel when I’m done burning?

We're glad you asked! We are proud to say that all our vessels are 100% reusable + we hope you will find many uses in your home for them after you’ve burned your candle!

When you have 1/2” wax left in your vessel, pop it in the freezer. Pull it out a few hours later, turn it over and whoosh! Out will come your wax, often with wick still attached. Toss the wax, spruce up your vessel with a cloth and warm water, and use it to store:

  • Pens + pencils on your desk
  • A cute potted plant
  • Your favorite crystal collection

NOTE: Live here in Portland? Reach out and we’ll happily refill your vessel for a nominal fee!
